This Mentor Program assists emerging women business owners (Mentorees) to grow their business by linking them with experienced business people (Mentors).
Using a combination of mentoring and practical sessions, the program assists women to improve their business skills and confidence, foster networking and successfully manage business growth.
Participants also have the opportunity to discuss issues online during the program via a dedicated Chat Forum.
Statistics for the two programs facilitated by The Eastern Suburbs BEC (ESBEC) in 2008 are:
100% of participants reported an increase in business skills and confidence. State average 96%.
82% of participants reported an increase in business networks. State average 82%.
52% of participants reported an increase in business turnover.State average 50%.
22% of participants employed more staff. State average 17%.

What's Involved
The Women in Business Mentor Program runs over a period of six months and consists of a total of 45 hours. The components and hours involved are as follows:
Business Skills Workshops - 18 hours
- Business Planning
- Financial Management
- Marketing
- Strategic Selling
Business Forums - 5 hours
- Business Expo
- Business Panel Discussion
Networking Event - 2 hours
One-on-One Mentoring Meetings - 20 hours
Mentoring takes place over the six month program period. The timeframes of meeting between Mentorees and Mentors are jointly agreed. Mentorees are also required to attend two introductory briefing sessions.
